I decided a little fun was in order this Monday and selected my cow vase to contain my beguiling tropical flowers. I dodged soaking rain showers while selecting flowers then stopped to dig up and move a Heliconia in the rain. Upon returning to the house drenched and bearing cut flowers; the dog looked at me like I had lost my mind. The Heliconia doesn’t seem to have noticed its new location. Rain is predicted all week, so it is a good time to move tropical plants.

A closer cow view. The cow is wreathed in white Tropical Gardenias (Tabernaemontana divicata) accented with a pink Zinnia and a pink seedpod from Aechmea “Burgundy” Bromeliad.

Bringing up the rear of the arrangement is the lovely fragrant “Aztec Gold” Frangipani. The lavendar spikes are from Arabian Lilac (Vitex trifolia). This doesn’t have a fragrance, though it sounds like it should. I like the purple backed leaves.
Happy Sultry Summer from South Florida!

What a fun vase, and I love the title. I suppose you are used to the summer humidity, but I would probably suffer terribly! 🥵

I am not sure used to it is the right word. Ready to get out of it quickly when you know it is there. And taking it in small bites. You could sit in the AC and look at Heliconia flowers.

Tropical gardenia can ‘supposedly’ survive in the home garden (although not at work, just a few miles away). I should watch for it while in Southern California. I doubt that it would do well here, even if it survives, but I will never know if I do not try.

These are pretty tough plants. I did not realize it was even out there until I unearthed it while pruning. No water or fertilizer ever it is at least 10 feet tall.

Oh, this was a wonderful surprise when I opened your post. 🙂 The vessel is fun, and the combination of flowers and foliage are perfect. Delightful!

It is good to plan a transplant when rain is coming. After the rain is a good time to weed, if you can take the heat.

Absolutely. The Sand does not like to let go of the weeds when it is dry. It has to rain to pull some of them out. Johnson’s Grass if you have that one.

I love this one, Amelia! I bet the Plumeria flowers smell great. The cow container is as wonderful as the red bus you use during the year-end holidays. I need to look for for a few containers like those to up my own flowering arranging game.

Thanks, Kris. The scented flowers have been enjoyed. Plumeria doesn’t last long in a Vase. I was just trying to remember where the cow came from. I have had it for decades.
