It’s Saturday morning and time for another tour featuring six items of interest from my garden. To join the fun and experience a worldwide garden tour follow this link to Jim’s blog.

I have collected more than a bowl full of mangoes and received my first ever dog alert to start picking the Glenn mangoes. My fruit loving Greyhound brought me a ripe mango that had fallen to the ground and was partially devoured by who knows what. I have learned not to leave the fruit on the tree if you want to eat any. I pick them when they release from the stem easily and let them ripen on the counter.

The first zinnia of the new crop. They seem to be orange or orange and fuchsia.

The irresistibly cute pineapple.

New pups forming on Macwilliamsii Bromeliads as the cool season coloration fades.

We had a huge storm Monday night and now the Rain Lilies (Zephyranthes rubra) are celebrating.

My very happy Sweet Begonia (Begonia odorata) and unnamed Coleus.
That’s all from South Florida this Saturday. Wishing everyone Happy Gardening. I will be in the kitchen staring down those mangoes.

Mangoes! (It will be several years before I get a chance at any. They must grow first, then get grafted, and then mature enough to fruit, which they may never do in this climate.)

You have quite a task ahead – I planted these grafted trees in 2016 & 17.

They may not make it long enough to get grafted. If they do, I am in no rush.

It is good to have a dog helper. That pineapple is too cute. Can you eat it? The zinnia is pretty no matter what the color is and rain lilies are the best.

I agree. The pineapple will be eaten (if I get to it first) when it turns golden. I have never had one get as big as supermarket pineapples. But they are so sweet.

He is. I have had numerous greyhounds, but never one who loved fruit. Rain Lilies are a good thing reseeded all over the garden.

Rain Lilies are gorgeous! Just like the coleus, which is already quite large. My coleus seedlings were late, so I bought some and got a bargain today. They will be in my Six next week.
Yum, of course, for the mangoes and the future little pineapple.

Thanks, Fred. The coleus has been around for years. I start new cuttings, there are a few in the ground…I have never grown any from seed.

Fascinating to see the plants I can’t grow here other than under glass.

How wonderful to have Mangoes and Pineapples–yum! My Zinnias are getting close already, too, but of course I started them indoors here in Wisconsin. Your canine partner is to be commended. 🙂

Yay for zinnias! The dog and I are waiting for ripe mangoes. He loves them.

Lovely tropical (mostly…will the Zinnia survive your summer heat?) things – do you have a bunch of pineapple plants? Do they grow in clumps? Or is it one and done? The edges of the Coleus leaves are remarkable – like a zipper…

yes, I can have zinnias year round. It takes a couple of crops. I have a bunch of pineapple plants, all grown from grocery store fruit. These will make a pineapple and pup, like all bromeliads, it takes a couple of years to get fruit. I think they are farmed differently.

I hope those mangoes have ripened since Saturday! Handy having a dog that alerts you when they start dropping. 😉The pineapple looks promising too. And I love those colours in your zinnia! 😃
