I truly enjoy the wild things (they make my heart sing) I grow in my South Florida garden and have filled, well, not a vase – but a Portmerion canister with fall wild things. Maybe I should call them weird things, though there is not a song for that!
A closer view:
The pink fuzzzies (hubs refers to them as wooly worms) are from Dwarf Chenille Plant (Acalypha pendula); pale pink chandeliers are from the Chandelier Plant (Medinillia cummingii); burgundy edible flowers are Roselles (Hibiscus sabdariffa); yellow flowers and green beans are Esperanza (Tecoma stans). There is a bit of Asparagus Fern in there for green texture.
Ivory Zinnia is my first flower from Cactus Zinnia seeds I started in September. I have Green Envy Zinnias (started at the same time) budding and am hoping I have figured out when to plant Zinnias here. I noted some mature Zinnias around when I planted seed so it may be a two Zinnia season here?? Fluffy pink grass in the background is Muhly Grass (Muhlbergia capillaris)
My vase from last week (Palm berries, etc.) is holding up nicely. The bits and bobs have settled a bit and are drying in place, colors are deepening. This may end up being a dried holiday arrangement with the addition of some sparklies, time will tell.

Yes, I remember the Troggs! Those woolly worms actually look a bit creepy in this vase somehow 😉 but I like your mix of weird things – and those yellow flowers are astonishingly bright! Your bits and bobs from last week have proved to be a real success and I agree they would look great with some sparkly stuff over over the Christmas season

A nice mix of wild things, Amy. I think of the song as Jimi Hendrix’s… but now that I think more about it, I recall the Troggs as well. Doesn’t feel like it was all that long ago, but I guess it was. 😀

I always try to identify all of your plants before reading the description. I couldn’t identify the Roselles, even though you posted about them before. Last week’s vase is still looking good.

The Roselles are so dark they eat light in pictures, oddly they are putting out a new set of flowers seemingly pretty?? The old vase may be a holiday thing. Or mold?

Ha! I can not identify them all, so I try to match the names with what I think they are until I identify them by the process of elimination.

Your selected vocal accompaniment is very appropriate! There’s obviously a lot to make your heart sing in your November garden. I have a Medinilla in a large pot but it’s yet to produce blooms for me. The new-to-me edible Hibiscus flowers are incredible.

Wild things which came on their own, perhaps not, but there are so many ‘unimproved’ local fauna which do so well in gardens. Your arrangement is a tribute to that.

That is so pretty – weird maybe, wonderful definitely. And I can quite understand the need to burst into song when you look at it! 😉 Last week’s vase still looks great and already very festive.
