Six on Saturday – Bountiful Butterflies

It’s a dreadful Saturday morning in Florida, our first cold front of the season is moving through spawning 35 mph winds and pouring rain. I spotted some new butterflies in my garden this week and decided that would be a better post than blurry, windblown flowers photos. I started a pollinator garden about two years ago and was astonished at how many butterflies appeared in my garden to devour my botanical treats. Here are a few:

The Giant Swallowtail on Firebush.

  2. Your garden certainly worked. We got the storm two days ago and are expecting a nice, but cool weekend. There’s lots of work to do outside, so the weather is perfect.

We have some lingering bits of snow on the ground with more to come tomorrow and Tues here in northern New England, so I am especially loving seeing these gorgeous lepidoptera, particularly the cloudless sulphur butterfly caterpillar, which I’ve never seen before. Thanks!

Dang! Your butterflies are as unfamiliar and impressive as the flowers in your garden!
