Zeus, I am told, is the Greek God of Rain. He gifted my garden with several gentle showers this week. I, in turn, was rewarded with flowers from my thirsty garden. The glass handbag was a thrift store find I happily filled with flowers.
The white flowers are Bridal Bouquet Frangipani, made especially happy by the rain and flowering in earnest. I cut these to use in arrangements as they are very prolific, but a bit different in form from other Frangipanis that tend to be small, deciduous trees. These are a little more than a foot wide and planted to screen my neighbor’s fence. The fragrance is subtle, first thing in the morning when the dew is burning off the flowers – the scent (in front of my garage) divine. The foliage is also semi evergreen.
The rest of the flowers are:
From the left side: in red and yellow Parrottflowers (Heliconia psittacorum); in orange, Mexican Bush Honeysuckle (Justicia spicigera); pink are Rain Lilies (Zephyranthes, no clue on species, but another Greek God); red flower, Miniata Bromeliad (Aechmea miniata, from last week). A few of my favorite indestructible ferns for accent.

Me, too.The Rain Lilies don’t last very long, but curl up into nice pink sticks – I always leave themin the arrangement.

Your glass handbag is charming and looks fantastic with your rainy day bloomfest. My local garden center had Plumerias on sale the last time I was there and I was SO tempted, even though I’ve killed at least 2 of them already. I think your white Frangipani are even prettier than those deciduous tree forms.

I LOVE this vase – what a find! Your arrangement fits it perfectly. Super fun.
I think I lost my frangipani. đŸ˜¦ The dog broke the flower stalk and the plant doesn’t look too good, either. Sigh. The heliconia looks pretty good, but I wonder how it’ll fare once the temp drops and the days shorten. I guess we’re testing the extremes!

Thanks, the Dahlias look so bad I think the tubers are baking. It has finally started raining again, if the weather moderates who knows? I have a feeling as close as I will get to a Dahlia will be that Bromeliad from a couple of weeks ago. The Frangipanis are pretty tough. I bought one two years ago in Maui, have nearly killed it twice and finally put it in a pot where irrigation hits it and it is putting out leaves again.

That frangipani is an odd one. I am not familiar with it. My colleague down south has one that he says is completely white, but I have my doubts. I think it is about as white as your is, although it is a different cultivar.
